Which is the Great Indian Desert?
The Thar desert that spans parts of north western India and eastern Pakistan is called the Great Indian Desert.
The Thar desert extends over 77,000 square miles and a major portion (about 85%) of this desert is spread over the Indian states of Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, and Gujarat. The rest lies in the Pakistani states of Sindh and Punjab. It is believed to be the seventeenth largest desert and the ninth largest subtropical desert in the world.
