Why is Jodhpur called the Blue city?

Rajasthan’s second largest city, Jodhpur is known for its scorsching summer heat. This is also the reason why it is called the “blue city.” Most of the houses in Jodhpur are painted in some shade of blue because it is believed that the blue colour offers some relief from the heat of the sun. Interestingly Jodhour is also known as “sun city” on account of its sunny weather almost through the year.
